21 Jul Sunset Sound & Jeff Jampol
From Homeless & Heroin Addicted to Managing Legends & Running an Empire Jeff Jampol reflects on life.
Jeff Jampol is one of the most successful music managers in the world. His client list is nothing short of legendary with such artists as Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, John Lee Hooker, Charlie Parker and on and on and on. It wasn’t always this way, Jeff struggled with an extreme drug addiction that almost cost him his life. He was addicted to drugs, obese, homeless and doctors even wanted to amputate his leg. Through the grace of god Jeff survived and has now been sober for decades and runs one of the biggest Artist Management firms in the world. He also is a teacher at UCLA, on the board of the same rehab that through him out and spends a gigantic amount of time paying it back with counseling other addicts to try and get them clean. Jeff sat down on the Sunset Sound roundtable because of his relationship with The Doors and Janis Joplin who tracked significant amounts of work here at Sunset Sound, but hearing his glorious life’s story was truly the inspiration of a lifetime.
