Nobody would blame you if you watched this ad and thought that Powerade was saving this spot for the playoffs. That would make sense, after all. But, as we learned Tuesday, the upcoming postseason no longer applies to Derrick Rose. Making lemonade out of a torn meniscus, the sports drink company opted to immediately release the ad to kick-off their new #PowerThrough campaign. It features a kid representing a young D-Rose, or a kid imitating D-Rose, or looking up to him, or somehow symbolically related to him (it’s all unclear and irrelevant). Anyway, that kid rides his bike and stares at the United Center to a poem Tupac wrote when he was 19. It’s a good ad, at least in a universe where Geico and Old Navy still exist.

Whether or not it has anything to do with Powerade, however, is up to you.
